Review: Burn Me

Well,

This book was a rollercoaster of feels... From longing, to dread, to suspicion, to heartwarming, to dramatic, and of course, so steamy and hot that I was lucky to be reading in a place with an awesome AC.

I have to admit, that the topic of addiction is a jarring one, the book shows how many things fall in the category of vice, and it describes how dark and dangerous can be to let yourself fall victim to it.
My mind went into overdrive with many things while reading, I also learned some fun facts thanks to dear Daniel and his info tips.

I can honestly say that it was an interesting read, with lots of ups and downs to keep the readers on their toes, and with so much smut that water and any other cold drink would be your loyal companion while reading it.

There were some parts that I didn't find very realistic, but some were endearing enough to ignore those few sections that didn't click.

Smutty fluff, what else can I say?

Maya's and Nemu's antics makes anyone swoon or just think how silly they are sometimes.
There were some topics that makes the reader and some characters think about the consequences of their acts and the importance of forgiveness and moving on.

Lastly, there is that pretty annoying thing known as a cliffhanger, now I have to wait for the next vol to come up, and I hope that it comes out soon.

Review: Graineliers, Vol. 1

Well,

The story has a slow and mysterious start. It's not bad, the concept of a system based on plants seeds sounds interesting, but we still have to wait for more character development.

Luca and Abel are childhood friends, so they have their own thing going, but at the same time, the characters still feel ungrounded and needing a bit more time for things to get interesting.

The pace of the story has the whimsical way that Takarai-sensei is knowns for, but at the same time, it feels just a tiny bit confusing.

I'll wait for volume 2 in order to be more conclusive with my opinion, after all, the ending of this first vol leaves our characters in a tight spot.

One volume to go for the end of this story.
Plots, cloak and dagger, new identities, leaps of faith all around. This volume was one roller coaster after the other.

I admit that it has some things that could be done better, but I can't deny that there were parts that kept me hooked page by page.

I'm just going to say, that the relationship between Himari and Aoi is getting trickier chapter by chapter.
This was a volume full of discoveries and sacrifices and let's just not mention the feels and the wonderful-insert sarcastic voice here- cliffhanger that I'm sure that left more than one reader with wide eyes and a dropped jaw.

For some reason, I feel that some aspects expressed in this volume are still quite misleading and I hope that my suspicions won't be spot on in volume 10.

Review: The Case Study of Vanitas, Vol. 2

This vol was full of character development. Well, mostly for Noah but we also discover things about Vanitas that we didn't know before.

The focus of this volume seems to be 'Motivation', as in what motivates our characters to do what their are doing? For Vanitas we discovered that it was revenge and for Noah it seems to be atonement for past regrets, or just simple guilt and regret.

Things are heating up in the action and mystery department and I cant wait o read the next vol.

Review: Eliza and Her Monsters

Well, What can I say about this story?

I can say that in many ways I found myself sympathizing with the characters. I'm a fanfiction and sometimes original work writer like Wallace, not as passionate and dedicated now as I used to be in high school. I also used to draw a looong time ago. So both Eliza and Wallace made my heartstrings resonate with many things potrayed on this story.

With age comes experience, but no matter what, you still remember those days as a teenager, and sometimes you still have your moments when everything is too much, or when something is really importatnt to you but others don't get it and makes you angry or angsty.

The author did a wonderful job describing that emotional roller-coaster. In some pages I was Eliza, in others I felt like her mom, and the beautiful thing is to be able to understand the characters even if it's a one person point of view. The illustrations and the glipmses of 'Monsters of the Sea' world were a tocuh of freash air that I haven't seen in a long time. Reading manga or comics is not the same as what is expressed on this book, but I can also say that as a webcomic reader, I admire Eliza's dedication to her fandom, even if sometimes it would overwhelm her like many things in life does.

Some things were a bit over the top, but maybe it's just the way it was intended, even more so when you think about the thoughts running through out main character's mind.

I hope to read more of this author's works in the future. I'll probably check out the book that the cover mentions one of these days.

Review: The Case Study of Vanitas, Vol. 1

The Case Study of Vanitas, Vol. 1 by Jun Mochizuki

So,

Here I am once again, completely hooked in another Jun Mochizuki's manga. I have to say that I love the background details and the steampunk touch of the enviroment.

Here we have a naive but strong vampire named Noe, and an eccentric-slash-crazy human named Vanitas who calls himself a Vampire doctor.

We have the legend of the Vampire of the Blue Moon, that sets the story around the mistery of the book of Vanitas that it's said to be able to control and destroy vampires but our quirky main character it's using it to save them.

Vampire politics are also present, and it seems that more things are going to be revealed about this supossed 'extinct' sociaety as we read the adventures of Vanitas and his reluctant companion Noe.

Some things said in this volume picked my curiosity like crazy, so I can't wait to read the next vol.

Review: Seize the Night

Seize the Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon

For some reason, I found this one quite the smooth read. Even with tragic and world changing moments, I liked the way the main pair of this book clicked together. And I have to say that it was funny for me the way the Dark-Hunter to human tansition came to be in this story, no angst or rushing against time in order to defeat the bad guy, just a procedure that was being troublesome but it got solved at the end.

The Nick/Ash situation seems that it's going to get worse soon, but I'll have to read the following books to see if my hunch s correct.

Let's see what the other books have for me ^_^ I'm eager to read who the next pair is going to be.

Review: Magia the Ninth Vol. 1

Magia the Ninth Vol. 1 by Ichiya Sazanami

Too fast paced.
Even if is only two volumes long, the pace it makes the plot look convoluted and it doesn't manage to catch the reader's attention to it.

The concept of famous historical composers doing extraordinary things is not a new one. I've seen other stories that are good at using that type of premise but, in this manga, it doesn't work that well.

I know that I'll sound repetitive, but the Solomon and demons card that is used here, would have been a hit if it wasn't the main plot of another, older, ongoing manga that it's already around 12 to 15 vols.

Not everything is bad or cliche, I liked some of the characters, even if some of them need more development.

Sadly, I don't think that I'll be bying the last volume of this story.
